Salary Range: $68,640.00 to $105,000.00/year
Work Arrangements: Hybrid (three days in office with two days remote, at the manager's discretion)
Job Summary:
The Database Administrator will provide critical support to our data and analytics teams by managing and optimizing our cloud computing platform (Azure) and databases for our primary Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application. This role ensures high performance, security, and data integrity through collaboration with cross-functional teams. Leveraging extensive knowledge of cloud platforms, database design, and SQL, the Database Administrator will utilize strong communication and teamwork skills to facilitate data-driven analysis and insights that support campaign teams and organizational goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Primarily responsible for developing and maintaining, maintaining, and monitoring the Azure-based database layer of UDW’s primary CRM application.
• Takes the lead on optimization of database solutions to maximize performance, working closely with developers, data engineers, and business analysts.
• Works with the Data and Analytics team on the collection, manipulation, and preparation of data for use by UDW’s existing internal systems and other SAAS data platforms.
• Support efforts to ensure that UDW databases remain secure, efficient, and accurate.
• Maintains current and accurate knowledge of data storage and management best practices.
• Managing and archiving data, ensuring data integrity, and optimizing storage for long-term retention and retrieval.
• Assists in developing data processes to accurately measure progress toward organizing goals.
• When required, develops automation processes and techniques to fulfill staff needs while ensuring data integrity and system performance.
• Assists with training other internal users on UDW database systems.
• Ensures that database projects are completed on time and within estimated costs.
• Coordinates specific data processes between external tools and local databases.
• Primary responsible for managing core database structures and systems, including: configuration, installation, maintenance, security, upgrades, migrations, troubleshooting and user access control.
• Administrator of Azure SQL managed instance, responsible for monitoring, log analytics, backup and recovery services, security center and enforcement of role-based access control (RBAC).
• Integrates database systems with DevOps pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) for CI/CD database deployments.
• Maintain documentation for database configurations, security policies, and operational procedures.
• Provide training and guidance on best practices for SQL development and cloud database management.
• Assist with department projects and perform assigned duties that fall within the scope of this job classification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Extensive knowledge of the Azure cloud platform and native databases therein.
• Extensive knowledge of database triggers, stored procedures and other processes.
• Thorough understanding of database design and construction.
• Fluent in SQL.
• Capable of maximizing database performance optimization.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, information Systems or comparable field (preferred)
• 3 to 5 years of active SQL scripting experience
• 3 to 5 years working with Azure cloud environments.
• Experience in data cleaning and standardization
• Experience administering all functions of the Microsoft Office 365 platform such as SharePoint, Power Automate, Power BI and MS Teams (a plus)
• 5+ years of experience in database administration, with at least 2+ years managing Azure SQL Managed Instances.
• Azure Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) or similar.
• Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Monitor, and Azure Security Center.
• Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, or Cosmos DB.
• Strong expertise in T-SQL, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases (a plus) and hybrid cloud database environments.
• Experience in SQL Server on-prem migration to Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Knowledge of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, including failover groups and geo-replication.
• Experience with backup strategies, point-in-time restore, and Azure Managed Backups.
• Familiarity with Azure Active Directory (AAD) integration and role-based access control (RBAC).
• Automation skills using PowerShell or Azure CLI (a plus).
• Knowledge of network security (VNETs, private endpoints, firewall rules, NSGs) in Azure.
• Experience integrating databases with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in incident management and root cause analysis.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to document and present solutions clearly
