Job Title: Custodian

Reports to: Facilities & Administrative Services Manager
Schedule: In-person, PART TIME, (up to 29 hours per week), Monday to Friday 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Job Location: San Diego, CA
Salary Range: $17.54/hr. to $24.04/hr. (depending on experience)
Job Summary:
The Custodian maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for all building occupants. This position performs a variety of cleaning and minor maintenance tasks to ensure the facility remains in excellent condition.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Clean and sanitize restrooms,, offices, and common areas daily
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors throughout the facility
• Empty trash receptacles and replace liners
• Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment
• Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces
• Maintain supply inventory and restock as needed
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks
• Set up and break down furniture for events and meetings
• Respond to cleaning emergencies promptly
• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards
• Report any damages, safety hazards, or necessary repairs to the Facilities Manager
• Assist with department projects and perform other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of work in this job classification.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• None.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Strong attention to detail
• Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks for extended periods
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation
• Time management and organizational skills
• Basic computer skills for communication and reporting
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to adjust work schedule for special events or emergencies
Preferred Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of custodial or janitorial experience
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and procedures
• Experience with commercial cleaning equipment
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus
Requirements:
• Flexibility to be on-call and/or work weekends, after hours and holidays to complete projects and support campaigns
• Ability to work from UDW’s San Diego office as needed
• Willingness to travel as needed
• Valid driver's license and the willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
